Week In The Arts: June 11-17

Welcome to the beginning of another week in the Roaring Fork Valley! This is Week in the Arts, a curated list of upcoming exhibitions and events.

 

 

 

 

Author Francisco Cantu, Aspen Words’ June Writer-in-Residence, will give a public talk and reading on Tuesday evening at the Temporary in Basalt.  He’s the author of “The Line Becomes a River: Dispatches From the Border.” The talk starts at 6 p.m.

 

On Wednesday, the group exhibit “Western Experience” opens at the Ann Korologos Gallery in Basalt.  The show features work that explores the Western plains and ranch life.

Also Wednesday, the Temporary holds food and wine tastings and a screening of the film "Sideways." Wine tastings will feature Pinot Noir and Merlot, just like in the movie. Tastings start at 6 p.m. and the film begins at 7 p.m.

Anderson Ranch Arts Center holds a discussion called “Makin’ It” with artist Esteban de Valle on Thursday. De Valle will outline how emerging artists can survive and thrive in the art world. It’s a part of Anderson Ranch’s “Critical Dialog” series.  The discussion starts at 7:00 p.m.

Friday, Saturday and Sunday is the Food and Wine Classic in Aspen.  The three days involve dozens of food and beverage seminars, cooking demonstrations and tastings.  

Also Friday, Saturday and Sunday is the 121st Annual Strawberry Days Festival in Glenwood

Springs. The festival features live music, family activities, a carnival, a parade, and strawberries and ice cream.
