Week In The Arts: July 23 - 29

Welcome to the beginning of another week in the Roaring Fork Valley! This is Week in the Arts, a curated list of upcoming exhibitions and events.

Monday, The Temporary screens the documentary “Buena Vista Social Club: Adios.” It’s a follow-up to the 1997 film about a group of Cuban musicians’ rise to fame. The movie starts at 8:00 p.m.

Tuesday is “Music with a View” at the Aspen Art Museum, a chamber music performance by Aspen Music Festival and School students and visiting musicians. The event begins at 6:00 p.m.

A poetry slam will be held at The Temporary on Wednesday.  Filipino poet and rapper Meta Sarmiento will be a guest judge. The slam starts at 8:00 p.m.

Wednesday and Thursday, the Missoula Children’s Theatre joins 50 students from Rifle in the musical “The Pied Piper.” The performance is at the New Ute Theatre Society and starts at 5:30 p.m.

Nina Gabianelli performs her one-woman cabaret act “Here I Am” at the Wheeler Opera House on Thursday and Sunday. The show is a musical storytelling of her theatrical life, with arrangements and accompaniment by David Dyer. The performance begins at 8:00 p.m. in the Wheeler bar lobby.  

The Art Aspen art fair returns to the Aspen Ice Garden Thursday through Sunday. The fair features art galleries from all over the U.S. Art Aspen runs from 12-7 p.m. each day.  

The Carbondale Mountain Fair begins Friday and runs through Sunday.  Mountain Fair features nearly 150 art and crafts vendors, live music from Jackson Emmer, Down North and the Dendrites, and competitions from pie-baking to wood splitting.
