A man suspected of stealing thousands of dollars worth of liquor from stores in Snowmass Village and Basalt has been identified. David Tiberious Rougeau, 40, of Spring, Texas is suspected of stealing more than $2000 worth of liquor from two stores in Snowmass Village - Sundance Liquor and The Daly Bottle Shop. The thefts happened within minutes of each other on Tuesday (10/6). Then, two days later, on Thursday (10/8), a man shoplifted a $2500 bottle of Congac from Jimbo’s Liquors in Basalt. In all of the thefts, the suspect was dressed as a construction worker.

Law enforcement officials are asking for the public’s help in locating Rougeau. He’s possibly driving a black Dodge Avenger 4-door sedan with Texas plate BV1375. He may be headed to Texas. A felony arrest warrant has been issued for Rougeau’s arrest.

Rougeau was in part discovered by an employee of Sundance Liquor in Snowmass. After the theft, the worker did an internet search and found a news story from Texas describing a serial liquor store shoplifter dressed as a construction worker. Police used that connect to reach out to a police department in Texas.
