Housing in the Roaring Fork and Colorado River Valleys is tight. Data is currently being collected to learn just how tight it truly is.
A survey was randomly mailed to 6,000 people between Eagle, Parachute and Aspen. It’s also available online, in both English and Spanish.
The results will be used by local governments to decide on how much housing their community needs, how much people can pay for it, and where it can be built.
David Myler, an attorney working to create a Regional Housing Authority, said it’s no secret the workforce here pays a lot for housing, or they commute, or both. "We all know this intuitively, but I think it’s going to be very helpful for local governments to have these kinds of statistics at their disposal."
Nearly all the governments in the two valleys contributed money for the needs assessment. Snowmass Village didn’t, because they just had one done.
