When Roaring Fork Valley residents turn on the tap, they count on high quality water. There’s a new online tool for consumers to find out what exactly is in their tap water.
Water systems across the Roaring Fork Valley have been in compliance with federal health standards for drinking water this year. Still, most have traces of chemicals linked to cancer.
That’s according to a new database created by the Environmental Working Group, a national research organization. The tool collects information from local water providers, state agencies and the EPA.
The group found 246 different chemicals in American water systems.
