The Colorado Bureau of Investigation is joining the review into what caused a fire in a garage in Glenwood Springs on Sunday. Glenwood Springs Fire Chief Gary Tillotson says bringing in the CBI doesn’t mean the fire was an arson, but it is a way to definitively rule out whether that played a role.
Tillotson’s crew is waiting for the CBI agent-- and a private insurance firm-- to be onsite before searching the scene for clues. “As you can imagine, when you’re sifting a pile of ashes, you only get one chance to sift it to everyone’s satisfaction,” explained Tillotson Monday. “To make sure that we all see the same things.”
The fire burned part of a garage and melted the siding off a home across the alley, causing about $30,000 dollars worth of structural damage.
